What do I do if my alternator is overcharging?
Mechanics said my alternator is overcharging and that the drive belt and assembly need to be replaced? I am mechanically inclined so do I just need to replace the alternator...also what makes it start overcharging? Let me know thanks!
the alternator puts out the same voltage at all times, most cars built after 1980 have the voltage regulator built into the alternator, the VR is full fielding which means it is allowing the 18-20 volts to go to the battery instead of the 13.8-14.5.
